What we do

Gloucestershire Gateway Trust is working to generate the maximum long term charitable benefit for residents in our target communities. We aim to do this by harnessing the potential local benefit of the new multi million pound motorway services project to create a multiplier effect on the actual community benefits it generates.

Even before the building of the motorway service area has started the Trust has helped target communities create 2 community shops in partnership with local residents associations and others. The Gateway in Matson was opened in July 2009 and APT Central on the Park estate in Stonehouse opened in March 2011. These centres host a wide range open access community based services, promote new employment and training opportunities and support community networks which strengthen mutuality and neighbourhood resilience.

Now we plan to also use these community shops to help us get as many of our building and permanent jobs to as many local people as possible. Pleasingly our long term commitment to these neighbourhood has also created a local critical mass that helps other organisations commit to planning long term local services too.
