Like Westmorland, Hobbs House Bakery are a family business with strong values and a real commitment to the community. They are the first British bakery to become a certified B Corporation, a global movement driving change in society through ethical and sustainable business. Tom Herbert one of the Hobbs House family members and from a long line of bakers, has bread and community in his blood. Tom with a vision to feeding change one bite at a time set up The Long Table in Brimscombe, Stroud as a community interest company almost 2 years ago. The Long Table https://www.thelongtableonline.com/ is a community kitchen and restaurant that serves food that would have been binned or wasted. It is a space where one long table brings upwards of 80 together per sitting to share food and conversation. Every meal they have done so far and plan to do has great fresh milled sourdough bread at the centre. Their skills and presence in the local community has been welcomed and now more than ever. The Long Table have been quick to respond to current crisis and the impact that COVID 19 has added to more vulnerable households. With Tom’s skills and a committed team, they are supporting people who are self-isolating, those whose families can no longer support them and households who are more vulnerable as well as working alongside charities helping support people who are struggling financially.
People can contribute food, The Long Table can provide ingredient lists for shoppers, and money - people will pay for the meals with all proceeds being used to make free meals available for those that need them. By buying 7 meals for £25, you can support this incredible initiative at the www.thelongtableonline.com/ready-meals. Comments are closed.
