And the winner is...

17/6/2020

We've been delighted with the interest and entries into our art competition this month, celebrating the theme 'Spirit of Community'.  So much so, we've struggled to pick a single winner!  At GGT we're all about community and encouraging people to get involved and do things, so we've decided to have a few winners!

Under 16's category

We loved the variety of artworks, and what our under 16's thought about the theme 'the spirit of community', recognising the good things to have happened during lockdown.  We had rainbows, people doing the NHS clap in their streets, front line workers helping people and communities of people coming together.  Capturing perfectly some of the wonderful things to have happened in an incredibly challenging time we'll never forget. Big congratulations to Aniche (age 10), Darcy (age 4), Bella (age 6) and Lily (age 7). All four of them will be invited to a special group art masterclass with our judge and local artist Russell Haines.

Over 16's category

Again we were so impressed with the interpretations of the theme, and what 'spirit of community' meant to each of our entrants.  It was also great to see different artistic styles and methods used.  Congratulations to Helen, Jackie, Maryam and Amanda.

Mark Gale, Chief Executive of Gloucestershire Gateway Trust said: "Entries have come from all ages and they show how the wonderful things that happen when communities come together can inspire children and adults even in difficult times.  We can't wait to get some of the winning art on display in our community gallery at Gloucester Services."
