This week GGT and Gloucester Services were delighted to welcome six participants onto it's Bridging the Gap course, for people interested in working at Gloucester Services but who wanted to give their employability skills a boost first.
The three-day course gave those taking part the chance to brush up on CV and interview skills, find out more about the types of jobs available, get some hands on experience and have a real interview at the end of the course. All in a Covid-safe environment.
“The Bridging the Gap course was a lifting experience, I can’t wait to be part of the team“
This week's course was the sixth of it's kind run by GGT, though the first since the start of the pandemic. Clare Skivington, GGT's Community Support Manager said:
“Supporting our local community is a one of the core values of both Gloucestershire Gateway Trust and Gloucester Services. Ensuring local people have sustainable livelihoods is the backbone of what we are both about. Bridging the Gap is a great example of how we can work together give local people an opportunity to do a training course, with on the job training, interview skills and real interviews in the hope of gaining employment.”
A big thank you to our colleagues at Gloucester Services for taking the time to support the Bridging the Gap course and everyone taking part, we're sure it will have been a big confidence boost for all involved.
“Amazing day (today at the Services) wish it was longer.“
All of the participants either found out about the course through GGT's community partners or The GEM Project. GGT hope to run more courses in the future, so contact us if you'd like to express your interest. In the meantime you can find out more about working at Gloucester Services and jobs currently available.
