Check out the gallery below to see some of the fantastic images from the first event last Friday night. Mark Gale, Chief Executive of GGT who also got involved, said: “GL4’s ‘Out of the Shadows’ virtual reality event in Matson on Friday and Saturday nights was an absolute triumph. As part of this GGT was pleased to fund the lighting up of the flats around the green together with Gloucester City Homes to show the potential for using light and colour to brighten up the precinct. We just loved it as dozens of people danced on the Matson green as part of the VR dance groups and more residents started to light up their flats with coloured light bulbs. I think the event has sown the seeds for something really special in the future when we can use more light and colour to permanently brighten up the area." One resident said: ‘I just had the most awesome time, it was amazing!’ Another commented: "It's good to have stuff like this in Matson because if it was in the city we [Matson residents] wouldn't go to it. It shows the difference you can make in a space too." In total, 64 people played and over 250 people watched. Naomi from GL4 CIC said: "We wanted to try something a little different in Matson and give the residents an experience they might not normally try and it went down amazingly. Everyone seemed really happy to try something new." Find out about future events coming to Gloucester through Strike-a-Light and GL4 CIC websites.
