Managed by Gloucestershire Gateway Trust on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council, the Going the Extra Mile (GEM) Project is a unique and unprecedented partnership of Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) and other organisations in Gloucestershire who have committed to work collaboratively to help individuals to overcome barriers and improve their lives.
The GEM Project re-connects people with their local services through their communities and ultimately helps them to move closer towards and into education, training, volunteering, or work, including self-employment and community businesses.
This voluntary programme understands that everyone is unique, with different needs and requirements, and offers tailored programmes to every individual through a personalised action plan, providing dedicated support and access to a wide range of options including: -
- Confidence building;
- Advice with job searching and interview practice:
- Opportunities for increasing skills and qualifications;
- Access to training and work experience opportunities.
The GEM Project is jointly funded by the Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund.
